Weathered Patio Deck | Preserve Your Dec in Your Tucson Home

Weathered Patio Deck | Preserve Your Deck in Your Tucson HomeDid you know Monsoon Rains & the Tucson Sun can seriously damage exposed wood decks and porches? More often than not when performing a home inspection in Tucson, we find damaged decks and porches due to exposure to the harsh elements here in the Tucson desert. Our recommendation: preserve your deck of your Tucson home.

An improperly built deck or porch can become a breeding ground for fungi and and mold and introduce infections to the house. The most common decay encouraging problem is the lack of space between the deck planks. Debris such as leaves fall into the cracks between the planks and become trapped. They absorb rain water and the moist debris encourages fungus infections in the joist and planks.

It’s important to take preventative measures to add to your deck or porch’s life. We recommend applying a wood preservative every year and replacing all decaying wood members with pressure treated wood.

Taking the time to preserve your deck and porches of your Tucson home can aid in reducing mold and decay while maintaining your property value and resell appeal.
